Asia is shaping the future of Ju-Jitsu

The General  Assembly was attended by 33 National Ju- Jitsu  Member Organizations  and chaired  by the JJAU  Secretary General  Mr. Fahad Ali al Shamsi

 The JJIF President  Mr.  Panagiotis Theodoropoulos attended the GA  as the  honorable Chief Guest  and as a VIP l Observer . Mr. Dae Sung Moon, IOC member (Olympic Gold medal 2004 Athens) from South Korea graced the proceedings with his valued presence.  

It was announced that under the eminent  leadership of H.E. Abdulmunem Alsayed M. AL Hashmi, Chairman of the JJAU and SVP JJIF , Ju- Jitsu  has in the past two years grown  exponentially across Asia and  has secured its major goal of  participation rights in all the three most important Multi sports events of Olympic Council of Asia, the Asian Bach games, Asian Indoor Games and Asian Games.

In the past two years the JJAU has strived hard to propagate Ju- Jitsu and has successfully  conducted Annual   Ju-Jitsu Championships  for all the FIVE Regions of Asia .

Due to the efforts of  JJAU , Ju- Jitsu is now considered  as one of the most popular and dynamic Combat Sports in Asia   supported by most of the National Olympic committees , with more and more National Federations vying for JJAU membership .

At this GA the Members voted to grant JJAU Membership to 7 more National Ju- Jitsu Federations.

Items on the GA  Agenda  were taken up one by one with the delegates present expressing their appreciation to the JJAU Bboard for the work and development  undertaken and unanimously approved and ratified the  reports and issues  tabled.

During the electoral proceedings  , The members present voted  to  increase the members present on the JJAU Executive Board so as to  extend  and guarantee active  representation of all  Asian regions, genders and cultures in the board.

The members then considered the candidatures presented for election for posts of the JJAU President and Executive Board Members [ for the period 2016 – 2024 ]  and unanimously voted to elect the President and the Executive Board members of the JJAU as below:

    • President/ Chairman : H.E.. Abdulmunem Alsayed M. Al Hashmi (UAE)
    •  FirstVice President    : H.E. Sheikh Fahad Talal Al Fahad Al Sabah (Kuwait)

    •  VicePresident  [ EastAsia President ] : Mr. Lee Yeoung Soo (South Korea)
    •  VicePresident  [ South EastAsia  President ] : Mr. Hung Nguyen Manh (Viet Nam)
    •  VicePresident  [ South  Asia President] : Mr. Suresh Gopi (India)
    •  VicePresident  [ West Asia President] : Dr. Mokhles Albu-Mohammed (Iraq)
    •  VicePresident  [ Central Asia President] : Mr. Adayev Ata (Turkmenistan)

    •  Executive Member : Dr. Henry Kothagoda (Singapore)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Francois Saade (Lebanon)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Seyed Amir Khoshbin (Iran)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Kithsiri De Zoysa (Sri Lanka)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Bold- Erdene Odsuren (Mongolia)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Ahmed A. Aziz AL Khayat (Bahrain)
    •  Executive Member : Mr. Takamasa Watanabe (Japan)
    •  Executive Member : Ms. Ratnadiptee Shimpi (India)

      Additional Board Members were also unanimous voted into office as below: 

      • Secretary General               : Mr. Fahad Ali Al Shamsi
      • Deputy Secretary General :    Dr. Jaffer Al Muthafer
      • Finance director                  : Mr.Tareq Al Bahri
      • Sports Director Asia         : Mr. Joachim Thumfart

      There being no other Issues raised by members, JJIF President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos gave the Vote of Thanks expressing the sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude in the name of all Members of Ju-Jitsu family, to  the host city of Abu  Dhabi , UAE , under the wise and charismatic  leadership  of his Royal Highness H.E. Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan , whose quintessential support  and guidance for the propagation and development of Ju Jitsu  is a testament for all sport lovers across the world.

      The 2016 General Assembly of JJAU was then adjourned.
