#JuJitsuFamily mourns the loss of Mir-Ali Seyidov, President of the Azerbaijan Ju-Jitsu Federation

On January 27, 2026, we said farewell to Mir-Ali Seyidov. He made an outstanding contribution to the development of Ju-Jitsu in Azerbaijan, raising many distinguished European medallists and World Champions.

His contribution to the development of Karate in Azerbaijan was equally significant — he was one of the founders of this discipline in the country and trained world-class champions and medalists, including Rafael Aghayev.

Mir-Ali Seyidov was a Master of Sports, an Honored Coach of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a UNESCO Teacher, and one of the founders of Karate-Do in Azerbaijan. For his lifelong dedication to the development of martial arts, he received numerous high honors, including the Martial Arts Oscar Award. He held an 8th Dan in Ju-Jitsu and a 6th Dan in Karate-Do, was awarded the Dzerzhinsky Medal, and was recognized as the Best Coach of the Soviet Union. He educated and inspired several generations of European and World Champions in martial arts.
